Property has been my career for over 30 years. I have been involved with valuing, purchasing and managing property, consulting on property issues, research of property markets and management of valuation and property offices.

My work has covered local councils, government and small business and ranged from the small to very large properties and property portfolios.

In this role I managed an office with 5 valuers and two support staff.  I provided the team with valuation support, guidance and development as well as managing the budget, marketing, goal setting and monitoring.  Included in this role was a substantial valuation component.

Fletcher Challenge Properties 

Development of a Regional Asset Management Plan using Geographic Information System Technology (GIS) to identify patterns and trends between property attributes (location, maintenance costs turnover), demographics and other data.

Keys Preston Maskell

In this role I managed a commercial and industrial portfolio in Auckland Wellington and Christchurch of over $600 Million with 10 staff. Developed and implemented performance objectives for staff, implemented debtor control to improve cash flow, assisted with the implementation of a new property management systems.  I also managed the disposal and revaluation of parts of the portfolio on the 1990 downturn.

The management of a property office with six staff that dealt with property acquisition, valuation and property management.  This office dealt with ground lease renewals, the acquisition of reserves, and land for the Victoria Street extension, as well as managing commercial properties and leases that had already been acquired.

  • Bringing the Quotable Value Valuation office into profit by increasing turnover by 50%.
  • Valuing major Wellington landmarks for Treaty Settlements.
  • Developing a pricing model for Housing New Zealand for relocatable buildings.
  • Mentored valuers to registration.
  • Completing an Asset Plan for Housing New Zealand.
  • Built a valuation practice from scratch into a sustainable and viable business.
  • Developing the methodology to use GIS for analysis and planning for Housing New Zealand.
  • Developed a sales analysis and valuation system that has worked successfully for over 10 years.

  • Sold down a major property portfolio in the market fall of 1990.

  • Being the auctioneer for car license plates in a televised public auction in Hong Kong.
  • Disposal of major redevelopment sites in Hong Kong and development control for major building projects in Hong Kong.
  • Lease management and valuation of large scale properties and for buildings up to 50 stories. 
  • Implemented Wellington City Council's Reserve Contribution Policy.
  • Negotiation and acquisition of large reserve areas in large subdivision areas such as Churton Park and Seton Nossiter Park in Wellington.
